SISTER CONCERN: GET PAPER INDUSTRY

Get Paper Industry is hand made paper and paper products making company. It was established on 1986. Its main products are hand made paper, products for packaging like gift bags, paper boxes in different designs and sizes, gift items, stationery items and greeting cards. The packaging products like paper boxes, paper bags helps to add values to gift items.

All the products of GPI is based on recycling of waste paper, cotton rags and other agriculture waste and solar based drying industry. Waste paper and rags are collected from different industries, whereas agriculture waste like banana fiber, corn husk are collected from farmers and other waste like water hyacinth is collected from local ponds and lakes. Paper so produced are dried in direct sun light, so there is no other energy used for paper drying.

GPI currently employs 152 people, out of which are 93 are women on full time basis and employs about 250 people on part time basis.

GPI is operating with participatory management concept, with full participation of all the staff. There is proper working condition to its staff. Average salary is higher than minimum wage fixed by government facilities. There are free lunch, 100% health insurance, provident fund, production allowance for its staff. GPI shares 25% profit with its staff.

GPI contributes 25% of its profit for social welfare activities with its sister concern General Welfare Pratisthan (GWP). GWP uses the fund for AIDS awareness in many parts of Nepal, has built 3 schools for children, provides scholarship for more than 125 girls, runs the campaign “Send your daughter to School”, maintain local community forest, disseminates ideas of fuel efficient cooking stove and other activities.

GPI is awarded International Award from, Glaxo, UK “Global Business Award on Aids Awareness – Glaxo, UK 1998”. The award was handed over by UNAIDS chief in England in 1998


GPI is also awarded “Best Industrial Award for Environmental Concern, 1995” by national NGO in Nepal, for its environmental activities.
